hooray for bowling

so the days bowling fundraiser was this past saturday and it was so much fun! it was a little hectic at first because we wanted to make sure that everyone was there on time and lo, and behold! they were - that's rare because most of us are filipino. anyway, once we started bowling it was a madhouse! there was cheering and laughing and running around (i think cristina and i were the only ones running running around, but still, running around) it was a really good time and we raised some money too! but, for sure, there will be another tourney - everyone's talking about how they're going to bring their ringers the next time! hopefully we can fill the bowling alley next time - that would be sooo awesome! we wouldn't even have to charge staffer fees if we filled the bowling alley because it would pay for itself! and here goes the pix. gbox is actually working again so i will definitely post the tourney pix this week:

here are the organizers (that's me and cristina) with the trophies - this is the closest we were going to get to them because we sure weren't going to win them. i think the bobblehead was the cutest one! i wanted to get the individual first place trophies as bobbleheads as well but i didn't know the ratio of men to women per team so i didn't know how many to order.
and there were special cameos too! thanks for coming out and supporting and just hanging out.
here are the o's with tootsie, kiana and evan. look jerome, you taught evan how to blink in pictures!
arnold and kiana - she, too, is closing her eyes! they all got the memo
pampy made an appearance with emily - thanks for coming out from palmdale emily!
i asked my momma to come with me to man the food table. she kept telling me who kept stealing the brownies by not walking over to the other side and just sliding their hands right through the bars. i'm glad you guys enjoyed my cooking. i'll experiment with different things other than spaghetti. i think i'll make lasagna for recharge and yes there will be more brownies.
here is the combined team of team pan de coco. aren't the pins cute? good job audrey! it's alex, joel, edvin, kuya dennis, herman, mark, mike, audrey, ate cherise and sharon. go team! they're the oldies but goodies. we kept referring to them as the over 30 crowd. haha. sorry edvin and audrey, i know you're not over 30 yet. but they were having such a good time. happy birthday to kuya dennis! and he even got a trophy on his birthday!
this is joey's team. they can just be called round eyes aka the non-asian team. haha. just kidding. i just noticed that now. anyway, that's david, teresa, cassie, joey and vincent. cassie is joey's sister and vincent is joey's cousin. go team!
this is the original green team (originally my team but i had filled the spot and ran to another team). that's my (in my green shirt), lauren, rob, cel and aileen. rob, lauren and cel are college and high school friends and aileen is my friend from work. it turns out she's glenn's cousin! small world huh?
this is team Going Postal! Ray, Ray, Jimmy, Mel and Chris. bringing it back to the old school. thanks for coming out guys! go irvine!
here's the second green team - cristina didn't get the memo. j/k. she got my memo because we had to match. it's kathee, kirsten, cristina, marites and meechy. go green!
i feel bad that i didn't get a picture of the irvine boys team. i think i was running around so i have half of them here with team postal and the other three on the next picture. here's chris and gp with chris and mel
and the rest of the irvine boys team - mel, derrick and joe. joe was the one who was so conveniently in front of the brownies. haha. you guys put up a really close fight! it was really close between you and the PDC team! it just gives you motivation to come back and win the next time =)
this is the team that i joined last minute. more of the irvine kiddos. dean, angie, brenton, adrian and me. i look like i'm squatting ready to go pee in a public restroom. sorry, i was running around. go team!
here's the mixed bunch or we can call them the commuters because they came from bakersfield, palmdale and la - thanks for the love guys! wee's brother (i don't remember his name), den, wee, mickee and emily. thanks for coming togehter guys! you guys are awesome
here's Split Happens - what a cute name! Kristin and her cousins with their matching outfits. i think the little ones outbowled Reg. just kidding reg, but not really. haha.
here's the late bunch. i think their team finally came together at 7:15. i should post the first pictures of their side ponytails and high socks - those were cute. it's henry, dorothy, trish, reg and wing (reg's little sister)
and here's the PDC team with "the hardware" - they don't have to steal a trophy anymore. they have it now. but will have to defend it. can they? who poses a challenge to them? any takers?
and yes, we all did graduate or still currently go to UCI. wow. this is the LOG/Irvine kids group. it's so nice to see everyone together! i love it!
and yes 4 of the 5 of us also went to UCI. cel is the lone bruin of the bunch but rob, lauren, joey and i are also fellow anteaters.
and we end with the lineage - in height order too! rectors from batch 31, 32, 33 and 34! whoa. that's my, reg, me and cristina. i love these girls!
and so it was a successful fundraiser. new and old faces, laughs, smiles, good times and the heart of kuya jess right in the middle of it all. can't wait for the next batch guys! it's less than a month away ... i'll post more about that later... and my crazy day at work... but that's too tiring to think about right now. ok, the full rundown of photos on gbox sometime this week.

bowling

i've been trying to post pictures for half an hour but it's not doing anything so i'll try again later. sorry - i'm going to bed. i've had a long morning.

a story from my nurse's calendar

since there's been so many deliveries lately ...

"a husband and wife were at the hospital, awaiting the birth of their child. the doctor told them she had an experimental machine that could transfer some of the pain of childbirth from the mother to the father. the couple decided to give it a try.
as the wife went into labor, the doctor set the machine to 10%, explaining that the man would probably feel more pain than he had ever known. to everyone's surprise, he felt no pain at all. the dr. slowly increased the percentage. the man still felt fine, and at last he asked to have all the pain. the amazed dr. honored his request, and the new mother concluded her delivery virtually pain free.
afterward, the couple returned home with their new baby. as they pulled in the driveway, they saw their mailman - dead on the sidewalk."

cristina's bday

we can start from here ... since i don't have my gbox any more the pictures will start from here now. here's cristina's saturday celebration - she also had a wednesday night and a friday night celebration. wow. to be 23 again. j/k. anyway, here's her first drink of the night courtesy of angie. it's a stop light. this is the drink she picked herself. some mai tai drink - but, she got to keep the glass! how cool is that?
here's when the started the balloon thing
cristina and janice - her smile is getting bigger - it may be the alcohol
that's me and my cheesy smile. i had water.
the stanford roomies: rona, cressa and meechy
the boys and eileen
angie and kathee
the dessert surprise. when did they start popping the balloon at the end? it gets really loud!
angie started clinking the glass so cristina kissed her spoon.
kay and cristina
i think this is my first picture with angie.
and of course, the group photo. cute huh?
happy birthday cristina! hope you had a good birthday week!

santi's baptism

since i am now awaiting a server, i'll post my pictures here. introducing mr. santiago enrique sandejas braganza (yes, that's four last names) isn't he cute? here's his hawaiian carrier waiting to be taken out.
look at his proud kuya helping him get dressed. eileen kept calling him sophie when he was wearing his baptismal gown
msgr. killeen did the ceremony. i thought they were going to dunk him in the water but notsomuch
there are the ninongs and ninangs giving their blessings.
and the holy chrism at the end.
welcome to the family santi!
parents, ninongs, ninangs and proxy ninangs with the newly baptized.
waiting by the water. that's joey. not so snuffy huh? hehe
at the reception ... day, herman and mike
then edvin, me and joey
back in the red room. it's like real world - the red room. me, day, eileen (with santi feeding but you can't tell) and dexie.
i think he's looking for some milk but i don't have any.
this is drexel - auntie laine's daughter - with john b. she's so cute!
tootsie and her kiddos.
i was holding santi for a while but joey and i had to go so i gave him to diana. when eileen asked, "Where's my son?" i said "I gave it to diana" eileen goes "it?" i said "i meant him" oops. sorry santi. you're a him i promise. bad tita kay, bad.

snuffy

so joey has lost his snuffalufugus title to "george." haha.
good luck with that one.
in dexie's words to joey "you lost the title, but now you're stuck with us" haha again.

Gbox

here's the email that i got from my bro-in-law today.

GBox is dead. RIP.

how sad. he's working on a new one so i will wait to post pictures.

goodbye gbox. you had a good run. i think i helped kill you because of my 10000 pix.

dashboard

oh dashboard. they hold a special place in my heart because of this song:

Breathe in for luck, breathe in so deep,
this air is blessed, you share with me.
This night is wild,so calm and dull,
these hearts they race, from self control.
Your legs are smooth,as they graze mine,
we're doing fine, we're doing nothing at all.

My hopes are so high, that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me,so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
to break or bury,
or wear as jewelery,
which ever you prefer.

The words are hushed lets not get busted;
just lay entwined here, undiscovered.
Safe in here from all the stupid questions.
"hey did you get some?"
Man, that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear
...so we can get some.

My hopes are so highthat your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me, so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
to break or bury,
or wear as jewelery,
which ever you prefer.

Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember,
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo,
the dim of the soft lights,
the scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
and the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
and this walk that we shared together.
The streets were wet
and the gate was locked so I jumped it,
and I let you in.
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
and you kissed me like you meant it.
And I knew that you meant it,
that you meant it,
that you meant it,
and I knew,
that you meant it,
that you meant it.

yes i know you recognize the words to "hands down" as this is one of the first songs that they played on the radio. when joey and i first started dating, he said that there's a dashboard song that reminded him of me - actually, just a part of the song, that reminded him of me. it's the part at the end "and you stood at your door with your hands on my waist and you kissed me like you meant it." the first day that joey and i had kissed he had sent me a text earlier in the day that said "i want to" i had no idea what he was talking about. we were supposed to go shopping together for our friend's birthday and i thought that he wanted to go shopping with me but i wasn't sure. so i texted him back and i said "you want to what?" and i never got a reply back. him and the other joey had tried to go shopping for our friend's birthday but came up empty handed so i ended up getting the present. he picked me up and we went to the birthday dinner, the bar and then out to tommy's before he had to take me home (this is when i lived in the apt in anaheim with dana). people usually came in through the garage so i was letting him out of the garage and then he stood in the doorway so i hugged him from behind (with my hands on his waist) and he turned around and we kissed. and we meant it. and he knew i meant it and i knew he meant it. it was really cute. sorry that's really cheesy. he sent me a text as he drove away that said "that is what i meant by my text earlier." the little sneak had planned it all along. but it was still cute. anyway, we kept it on the downlow for about a week - this was on december 26 - and all of our friends had bets that we were going to hook up - they had pre- and post- new year's bets. so joey threw a new year's eve party at his house and when the clock struck midnight i wasn't sure what to do because it was still on the dl. and he went over to me and i thought we were going to beso beso but he kissed me - in front of all our friends, his sisters and cousins. and they all thought it was a new year's kiss but didn't think anything of it. until the next week when we were still kissing. haha. that was new years 2004. anyway, that's why dashboard holds a special place in my heart. and of course, that was the last song that they played last night and it was awesome. i heart dashboard.

another set of birthday greetings

I keep getting behind with birthday greetings but this is just one late one and two on time ones so here we go ...

happy birthday wee (july 12) and to the two today - happy birthday dexie!!
and jei! both today, the 14th! woohoo ...
what went on in october that there are so many babies in july? must be something in the water over there in the philippines in october. oh well. just in case you guys wanted to know how they get the dates to EDD (estimated date of delivery) it's called Nagele's rule. they take the first day of the last menstrual period of the woman and then they - 3 months + 7 days - that gives them approximately the 40 weeks until the due date of the baby. then they confirm with ultrasound. you know what's pretty gross? it's pretty darn accurate (as this also approximates the date of conception) because my birthday is on september 10. one year i told my mom that i was just a late anniversary present (their anniversary is on september 2) then my mom said, "no, your dad's birthday" (his birthday is december 18) yuck - tmi. but, according to nagele's rule, it's pretty close. according to that one thing noreen posted a couple weeks ago about birthday dates, it was right on the money! again, tmi. anyway, happy weekend - i'll post again after i get ready.

good gift

i don't remember what else joey gave me for valentines day but the other things was monthly car washes - i would have preferred bimonthly but monthly are good for me. so as i sit here and blog, he's washing my car. hehe. yes, i know i'm evil.

so many things

i feel like i haven't blogged in a while. let's see. what's happened lately? cristina and i met up on friday at panera to meet about the batch. people are so funny when they answer the phone - both pia and dexie had the same reaction "uh oh" and then they gave a sigh of relief when we asked them. you guys are too funny. we were so grateful that we got plenty of yes's and just a handful of maybes, but they followed up with"we need some time to pray about it." we'll be praying with you guys to make sure that this is your time. if not, let us know and we'll make different arrangements for you - muahaha. just kidding. or not. we still haven't finished asking all of our speakers so if you're reading this thinking they didn't ask me to do anything yet, don't get so comfortable just yet. but please pray for us - the batch is six weeks away!

saturday was marianne and gary's wedding. sorry i've been slow to post pictures. noreen was speedy - hers were up the next day! i was quite surprised at the shawl thing - i had to buy a shawl because sleeveless clothing was not allowed - i liked the shawl i got though. then reg, ang, arlene and i met up with franny at the shank and then to sushi. yummy.

here's a little backstory to reg's other classic story of the night. there was an old joke between our hs friends that if you got sex, then your hearing was perfect - like you could hear a pin drop. so when you didn't get any, you were deaf. well, the whole night throughout dinner and coffee and second hand smoke, i kept not hearing what people were saying or making up what people were saying to what i was hearing. so, reg, in her "too bad i have to europe" voice says, "kay, you either need to clean your ears or get some" we all laughed - i thought it was very quick-witted. reg later told me she was glad i thought it was funny because she didn't want me to take it as a low blow. but really, it was impeccable timing.

sunday i went to Mass at St. Liz. they have a new pastor there - Fr. John Keese. very different from Msgr. Killeen. Msgr. just retired but he's still the pastor emeritus at St. Liz. Fr. John is very energetic and talks really fast. he seems to be trying to adapt very quickly so I know he'll be just fine. I went to work right after Mass.

Monday I went to go visit Joey straight after work - I was starving! I was talking to Mina as I was deciding what to eat for breakfast and she told me that if I got the carnitas scramble then it would go straight to my hips and that I wouldn't look good in any wedding dress - how sad! i said i think i may have to re-organize my bridesmaids! joey and i later watched pirates of the caribbean. i love johnny depp, keira knightley and orlando bloom. i'm not sure in what order. but i love them all nonetheless. i think i wanted more but i know there's a third movie so i guess i can't judge it until later. weird because in trilogies, i usually like the second one. for instance, two towers was my fave of the LOTR trilogy. ok, that was just one example but still.

I had class on Tuesday ... weird functioning during the day. really weird.

Today I met up with Dana for lunch. she too suggested panera. i had never even heard of this place until friday and then i had it twice within a week! it's pretty good though and there's a lot of different things to try (although i did get the same salad again) so i was okay with it. dana told me about her man and it makes me want to meet him even more - he's passed the two week mark, actually doubled and is almost going to triple it and i still haven't met him. maybe i'm too scary to meet. just kidding. but he may wonder about your choice in friends if we meet. i'm actually very shy when i meet new people. so curious i am.

I ordered the bowling trophies for the tourney today. one team and five individual - even engraved. wow. hopefully it will all turn out well! ok, next time i'll put up some pictures - going to the dashboard concert tomorrow. going to go read now.

keeping jason and his family in my prayers. that's a tough one. watch over them Kuya Jess and keep them in your loving arms.

insurance

i hate to always complain but i've been on the phone with the hospital in hawaii and blue shield for the past half hour back and forth. it sucks. they're still billing me from my hospital visit back in january. i received the $2482.12 bill that was paid for (except for my co-pay) which i paid back in may. and then i received another separate bill for $317.95 for the er physician. i called blue shield and they said they never got the invoice. i called the hospital and they said that they received 2 denials already so that the patient has to pay for it. they gave me a number that the insurance people can call. i called blue shield back and they said they must have sent it to the wrong place because they only have the original invoice that has already been paid. i'm like what is going on here? anyway, i'm supposed to send it back with a different number. maybe that will work, grrrrrrrrrr....

$50,000.00

just a little clip i heard on the news this morning when i was changing a dressing. if a person increased the amount of sex they had from once a month to once a week, their satisfaction rating of life would increase like they had a $50,000.00 increase in salary. wow.

trauma

just wanted to let everyone know to be careful out there! we had 12 traumas last night and it wasn't even the fourth of july yet! so everyone be careful and don't drink and drive! and watch out for those that are drinking and driving because many of the traumas were motor vehicle accidents! take care my sweets!

oh first saturday

it's the one weekend day that i usually request off of work because i enjoy it so much. really i do. i love the Mass parts the most - i think they're the strongest because we sing them all the time. but i love just hanging out and catching up. and this time i got to see my bubba there - well, to the side, but there nonetheless and that made me happy. anyway, i have to get ready for work but it was indeed a pleasure to see everyone, even the stalker guy. sorry for passing the phone along cristina - i feel really bad. i'm glad you got home ok though. happy four day weekend for those of you that don't have work! for everyone that does have work, happy time and a half!
