three way calling

remember back in high schoolwhen you were always on three way? it was like the "in" thing to do. well, last night i totally had a flashback to high school. i was talking to cristina when reg called me on the other line. i was going to relay the information back to reg anyway so i decided i would use my three way. i first had to ask cristina how to use it because it had been so long, but we figured it out. then we started talking and talking and talking .... for 3 hours! yes, 3 hours! it didn't seem like it though because we engrossed in such great conversation although reg couldn't hear for the last hour because she was delirious and we wouldn't let her get off the phone. anyway, gals, thanks for great conversation on my Friday night!

oh how He works

so this past weekend was our retreat. thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers and especially for your presence. it really made a difference. I think all of us felt Him there, working through all of us and through others and of course through Fr. Mel. Weird how so many things just seemed to fall into place this weekend; all because of Him. We are in for the long haul guys, but it is a beautiful thing. we need to be in the present and get updated in our walk. There's so many words that I would love to say but I think you'll be able to see the love in the pictures. I love you all and hope to see you at the next batch.

This was on Monday when we decided that we were going to drive Reg back to Palmdale. We needed to eat and ended up at Zankou chicken. I'm showing the hummus and it's dripping all over my fingers. bleh but yummy in the tummy.

Ang is excited for the garlic butter but Reg doesn't look so excited. She thoroughly enjoyed her zankou experience. Thanks to you girls for keeping me company on the ride back up to Palmdale - for letting us stay at your place, for all of the wonderful conversations and words of discovery, for letting me practice healing touch on you, for being the beautiful girls that you are. I see Him in all of you and for this I am grateful. Until next time, basta.

transition

what a weekend! so much to say but too tired to say it because today was a long one too. i'll write about it later but just wanted to say that God is good and shows Himself in mysterious ways. amen Lord amen.

my belated happy birthday!

I'm so terrible. I forgot to greet my Rec a happy birthday! Happy 25th birthday Reg!!! Next time, make sure that you're bringing someone in because you're 25, not the other way around! just kidding. Love ya! Spoons: be careful, it could be hazardous to your health!

Happy Easter

He is Risen Alleluia Amen. Happy Easter everyone! It was so beautiful to see all of the color in Church today. And of course, we saw loads and loads of people. Joey and I got there while the other Mass was still on, but it was a mad rush once Mass was over because people wanted to sit. The homily was awesome and it kind of made me think. St. John referred to himself as the other disciple and he let Simon Peter go inside the cave before him although he was the one that ran there first. Interesting. Anyway, it was a beautiful Mass. After Mass, Joey went to work and I went over to my brother's place to have some Easter eggs. They always come out in reverse order.

Lucas got lucky - he found the ones with all the money.

too strong

so yesterday we went to pick up Joey's prescription at Costco. they had originally told us 7 - 14 days and yesterday was day 14. I went to the bathroom as he picked them up. When I got out, he was standing there talking to the guy with no glass case in his hand and he said let's go. I asked where his glasses were. He said that they had already tried to make 2 lenses for him but that because his prescription is so strong (he has a really bad astigmatism) the lenses have broken when they tried to put the anti-reflective coat on. They're on lens try # 3 and then they'll hopefully be here by next Thursday. How sad huh?

airports and breakups

i just talked to my friend on the phone this morning. her man broke up with her last night. he went away on vacation and didn't ask her to pick him up from the airport. when he arrived on sunday, he didn't even call to tell her that he was in. then it got into a whole thing last night that he didn't think that his feelings were growing. in any case, i was talking to another friend a couple days ago and she was like "isn't that when you felt it too before? when you didn't pick up your ex- from the airport?" I thought about it and was like, yeah, actually, it was. He had left for a two week vacation and I did not drop him off or pick him up. That's when I realized it was over. maybe the same thing happened. weird.

vegas

so this was our vegas trip ... these are all out of order but this is us visiting my and danny in their new pad. we were in the room watching NCAA basketball.
we had just come back from Massage Envy - this place where My is a member and can get people in for a good price. Joey, Cel and I got half hour massages for $21!! What a steal!

this was the end of friday night ... after all of the drinks for Cel's bday and St. Patty's day, we were all pooped out and ended up in the tub! this is Cel and the guys on her bday ....

Us being hams outside ... we were getting really warm and so all the girls went outside to get some fresh air and ended up in pictures ...

I'm just holding Joey's drink in this shot ... we have 8 eyes between just the two of us!

this is how we partied... 6 out of 10 threw up - I wasn't one of them - yay! and two of the girls didn't make a full recovery until 5 PM on Saturday. Anyway, I think everyone had a good time.

it's me

remember when i wrote about the cirque du soleil tickets for christmas and how i wasn't invited to go? well, i got a phone call on wednesday morning. it was my godfather. he asked what i was doing on thursday. i said i had class but i was free after. he told me not to make any plans because we were going to go to dinner with jenn and joan and then after dinner, jenn, joan and i were going to watch cirque du soleil - he was giving the ticket that they had bought him to me. i felt bad but he said that he had already made up his mind and that he already talked to the other two girls and they were okay with it so he wouldn't take no for an answer. i asked him when he had thought of the idea and he said the day after christmas. i asked why he asked me so late and he said that he was scared of telling jenn. i laughed and said, "you're scared of her too?"
anyway, so we all met up for dinner and for some reason i still feel uneasy around jenn (this is joey's ex-gf). i don't know why. she's the one that broke up with him. my other friend, joan, and i always tease each other because joan is going out with another guy that we think jenn had some sort of drunken encounter with so we call both of our men "used goods." but anyway, i still feel weird around her. jenn and i used to be best friends in high school. we drifted apart our senior year when she got with joey and i got with ray. then when her and joey were having problems, she would come to me for advice. six years later they break up and a year after that joey and i are toogether. i still feel weird around jenn and around ray. i shouldn't feel weird around jenn because she broke up with joey and she has had 2 boyfriends since him so she's good to go, but i still do. i have a complex i know. anyway, here's our pix:

mina's story

so i had dim sum with mina on monday because she was in town. we're talking and she tells me a story.

Mina: "I can't pull off this dentist thing because people think I'm too young."
me: :why?

so she goes on to tell me how they have a class in which they teach young children how to brush and floss their teeth. They're partnered up and on one Thursday morning she was in her garage packing up the supplies while waiting her partner to pick her up. She's wearing her scrubs and her white coat while in the garage and the gardener approaches.

Gardener: Excuse me (in a heavy accent)
My (turning around): yes
Gardener: Excuse me
My: yes
Gardener: (pause ) ... is your daddy home?
My (confused for a second and then realizing that the gardener thinks that she is a child and it would take too long to explain) No
and then he walks away ...
My hears the gardener go back to the truck and all of his fellow gardeners start talking to him in Spanish and start laughing .... then the gardener comes back to the garage

Gardener: Excuse me
My (still getting her stuff and hoping that he won't ask if her mommy's home) yes
Gardener: Are you a dentist?
My: yes
Gardener: oh .... and walks away in silence ...

honking horns and coffee withdrawal

so today i honked my horn twice ... i usually don't honk my horn at all but one driver made a right hand turn when i was making my left hand turn on a protected arrow. that means I have the right of way! what the heck! and then this other car made a very fast left turn in front of me in which i had to brake extremely fast to avoid hitting them. arrrggghhhh....
i wonder if this has anything to do with me giving up coffee. maybe it's just making me cranky and i'm just noticing things more. i can't wait to drink it again.

superstitions

does anyone know if - according to superstition - it is bad to be partnered with your significant other in a wedding? my grandma once told me that because my uncle and aunt were partnered together and she didn't like it because it was superstitious not to. they ended up divorced :(
then i told mark that joey and i were going to be in the wedding and he said just to make sure that we weren't partnered up together because it's bad luck. those are two totally different sources but with the same advice. anyone else hear of this or am i just being paranoid?

more weddings

i forgot to mention that my other friends, grish and steph, just got engaged this weekend. they told us on Sunday and then they left a very vague message for me last night. I called them back this morning and they asked if Joey and I will both be part of the wedding party. I said yes for myself but I told them to ask Joey. I think this year is break year between weddings and then 2007 I get slammed again. and this time I can't use the poor student excuse!
